"Education is not something which the teacher does, but it is a natural process that develops spontaneously in the human being."
Personal, emotional and social development
Children follow Montessori Grace and Courtesy exercises. Children are encouraged to respect their environment, share and cooperate with each other. Awareness of other cultures and beliefs and of the environment is predominant in all our activities.
Language and literacy
There is a wide range of routine and planned activities to enable the children to practise their listening skills and verbal skills. Sandpaper letters are used to introduce the sounds of the alphabet when your child is ready. Pre-writing and pre-reading is practiced on daily basis.
Number songs and rhymes introduce the children to mathematical ideas. In addition to this the children use the Sensorial materials to compare, sort, link, match sequences and make patterns. Sandpaper numbers are used to introduce numbers to your child, which leads on to simple addition and subtraction.
Knowledge and understanding of the world
To promote understanding of their own world the children are encouraged to look closely at similarities, differences, patterns and change. This is done through their topics. The children also get involved with simple experiments to promote their understanding of science and the environment.
Children show awareness of space and others as they participate in both indoor and outdoor activities. They are encouraged to use outdoor toys and equipment to act out their imagination and energy.
